5. Buy items that can be reused, refilled, recharged or recycled

6. Buy loose fruit and vegetables

7. Buy produce that is in season

8. Buy items that will last

9. Avoid single use or disposable items

10. Think twice before accepting a bag if your purchase is small

 

Buying local

‘Food miles’ (how far produce travels to reach the shops) and farming methods (especially fertiliser use) are responsible for a large proportion of greenhouse gas emissions.

Buy local produce as much as possible, and choose to buy organic fruit and vegetables grown without fertiliser.
